I had never found a fitness regimen that really stuck until CrossFit. I went in cycles of globo gyms, hiking, running, yoga, Beach Body DVDs, my own random weird workouts that included sprinting to every other light pole to a certain spot where I did air squats or push ups or something else to make me look like a freak in public… until I found CrossFit… and these people were even freakier. I’ll never forget my first class at CrossFit Incendia, I stood in amazement as two GIRLS did pull-ups. Girls can do pull-ups? I started dreaming bigger when it came to fitness goals and I’m still doing things I never thought I could.
As a former competitive softball athlete and cheerleader/cheer coach (Hey now! You’d be surprised at how all that stunting experience helps your oly lifts and gymnastic skills!), I never thought I could find something that challenging and competitive again at age 30… I was so wrong. To be physically and mentally motivated like this again is incredible. Being a part of Incendia is like being a part of a team again.
I’ve never been one to shy away from leadership roles in sports before so when I had the opportunity to help others at Incendia reach for their fitness goals and experience the same “everest” moments that all of us CrossFitters get to experience, I went heart first. My whole life is about helping. Getting to do it on such a personal level is incredible. Every day the people who walk through that door are making choices to better their lives and I get to be a part of that.
